Facility: The Doumon Lab in Steidle Building

The Doumon Lab (SEMDE) is home to a variety of equipment, including:

Gloveboxes

We have an integrated T-joined 4-gloves glovebox (housing the thermal evaporator) and a 3-gloves glovebox (Organic glovebox) for complete device fabrication. In addition, there are two 3-gloves gloveboxes: Perovskite glovebox and Multipurpose glovebox.

Profilometer (Bruker DXTa)

Our profilometer, the Bruker DXTa, has automated collection capabilities with an unlimited number of locations and motorized 360-degree rotation. It can accommodate single sample multiple-point measurements and multiple samples multiple points measurements. In addition to the functionality needed to collect accurate step height and surface roughness measurements, the DXT-A extends stylus profiling beyond two dimensions (2D) into three-dimensional (3D) analysis with 3D Mapping functionality.

Perkin Elmer Lamda 1050+ UV-Vis-NIR Spectrometer

The lab. has an internal UV/Vis/NIR spectrometer. The LAMBDA 1050+ 2D base instrument is a high-performance UV/Vis/NIR double beam, double monochromator, and ratio recording spectrometer. Its wavelengths range from 175 nm to 3300 nm requiring an N2 purge below 185 nm. Our set-up comes with two detector accessories: a standard detector and an integrating sphere detector.

Bruker FTIR (ALPHA II – Platinum FT-IR or INVENIO-S FT-IR: model to be confirmed later) *

The lab. houses its own FTIR, the …

ALPHA II is a very compact FT-IR spectrometer for quick, easy, and reliable IR analysis. The ALPHA II – Platinum includes the Platinum-ATR Universal sampling module that facilitates the analysis of virtually any liquid and solid sample, independent of its shape and composition. For most samples, the measurement is performed without sample preparation and the need for consumables.

The INVENIO-S is a peak-performance FTIR spectrometer for maximum productivity in routine and advanced laboratory analysis. The state-of-the-art electronics, premium quality of all optical components, integrated innovative beam path, and all-gold coated mirrors lead to unparalleled measurement sensitivity.

Glovebox-integrated Spin Coaters (Specialty Coating Systems)

Glovebox integrated Thermal Evaporator

Slot-Die Coater (Ossila)

The SEMDE lab houses two (2) Ossila Slot-Die Coaters: One in a glovebox and the other in the ambient. The Ossila Slot-Die Coater is a small piece of equipment compared to others on the market. Fully operational via the digital controls on the unit itself, it allows you to easily program multi-step processes, where different system parts can be controlled independently.

Drying Oven (IKA Oven 125 Control – Dry Glass)

There is also a drying oven. The IKA Oven 125 dry glass is a powerful cabinet for temperature regulation, drying, ageing, and heating. It is built for rapid heating and precise temperature regulation and to guarantee reproducible results in research and industrial laboratories for quality control or science. It has high-quality insulation and a huge interior of 125 l. It reduces odor emissions and operating costs and ensures excellent temperature uniformity.

UV-ozone Cleaner (Jelight)

SEMDE is home to Jelight UV-ozone cleaner model 30. It comes with an ozone Killer and lower sets, allowing for its use without the need for external exhaust.

EQE Set-up (QUANTX-300)

The QuantX-300 has a redesigned cornerstone 130B monochromator providing upgraded performance with nearly doubled scan speeds, cutting measurement times by half compared to old Newport systems. It allows for simultaneous measurement of EQE and the reflective losses to quantify IQE with a wavelength range from 325 to 1800nm and is suitable for measurement on any photovoltaic device.

Newport Solar Simulator (MKS) with Keithley 2450

The group houses the 94043A solar simulator, a 4-inch x 4-inch area ozone-free source illumination Sol3A Class AAA Solar Simulator with a 450 Watt Xenon.

Litos-Lite with Wavelabs AAA Solar simulator (Fluxim AG)

Litos-Lite is a set-up/tool to perform parallel JV (24-channels) and stability measurements on next-generation solar cells, allowing individual MPP tracking of each device and for temperature variation up to 100/125 degrees Celsius.

Key Features: Parallel J-V, Stability tests (ISOS protocols), MPP tracking, and Solar Simulator / LEDs.

Paios (Fluxim AG)

Paios is a tool allowing a variety of electrical and optical characterizations of organic and hybrid photovoltaic and optoelectronic devices with a click.

Key Features: Transient photocurrent, Transient photovoltage, Dark/photo-CELIV, Charge extraction, impedance spectroscopy, etc.

Tektronix MSO54B 5-BW-350 with Arbitrary /Function Generator

The MSO54B 5-BW-350 is a 5 Series B MSO 350 MHz, 4-FlexChannel, 6.25 GS/s Mixed Signal Oscilloscope, 62.5 Mpoints Record Length. It offers better visibility into complex systems with a large 15.6-inch high-definition (1,920 x 1,080) display. 2Channel, 125MS/s, 25MHz Sine Waveform, 14−bits, 3.9 Color LCD, 2U half rack, USB Host/Device.

QYB Quantum Yield Berlin GmbH (LuQY Pro.) *

According to QYB, The LuQY Pro is the most versatile, powerful, and easy-to-use absolute luminescence analysis system on the market. Its innovative and highly integrated concept allows absolute photo- and electroluminescence measurements out of the (shoe)box. The system thereby has a unique focus on opto-electronic device optimization (LEDs, solar cells, etc.) and can precisely simulate various operating points.

Glowforge Laser Scribing System *

This fun tool brings ideas to life, from simple gift items to fun crafts through sample patterning, engraving, etc. Being a device lab., we do fabricate a lot of devices. Our Glowforge Pro. helps reduce the manual labor of labeling samples to rapid throughput laser patterning. Plus, it would be fun to calve some “Welcome”, “Congratulations”, and other wishes to new, old, and outgoing members and visitors of the group/department.

* Yet to arrive in the lab.
